How do you become a Vikette?
Many of the Vikettes take Body Mechanics during their Freshman year. This course teaches them the fundamentals of Drill Team and earns them their Physical Education credit requirement. Girls from the Fundamentals Class choreograph and perform a number for their final grade. They also get to perform a dance in the Vikettes Spring Show.
When are Vikette Tryouts?
Freshman girls can try out for Vikettes in the early spring. They attend a few days of dance clinic, where they learn the routine they will perform for the judges during tryouts.
Officer selection typically follows the next month with camps for officers and social officers held during the summer. Tyouts for the Select Team are typically held the following fall.
What is line camp?
Line camp is the place to learn all the routines that will be performed during the year. Several awards are also given at line camp including Ms. High Kick and All-American. All-Americans are typcially eligible to perform at several events including the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Dallas Cowboys games, and New Year's Day bowl games.
